Sorry it should say hope there aren't halfstops on these !

GEC backsprings and nailnicks this far down the blade looks like there could be a few damaged finger nails.

I have not had the pleasure of holding a Talon and thus have never attempted to open one. Just looking at the pictures I can see the potential for difficulty, however. At least with regard to the Spearpoint version. The Wharnie, by virtue of its shape, looks as though it might have enough blade exposed to allow opening by pinching the blade between the thumb and index finger? But, even with the additional blade exposure, I'm not sure if you could get enough purchase to open one like that -- I'm only guessing?

The nail nick on the black version of the Talon, in this picture at least, appears to be placed well behind the point of beneficial leverage (for lack of a better term). That placement, coupled with a strong back spring, could definitely hold the potential for some fingernail damage!

And, half stops added to that mix...Hmmm? Maybe I should cease my speculatin' and just wait to hear what someone who actually owns one of these beauties has to say on the subject? But I do think you have raised some valid concerns, John. You certainly got my little wheels turning, anyway! lol

Cheers, my friend!

This is a pre production drawing Ron, I am intending buying one of these as soon as they are hot off the press.

I was just surprised to see the position of the nail nicks especially on the Northfield version. If they had a combination of halfstops, which the previous #92 was supposed to have had, and strong backsprings could be a problem. I will probably get one anyway cos I have been waiting for this model, and was interested in what other folks were thinking about this issue.

Howdy, John!

I sure do like the looks of those Wharnies! The Spearpoints, not so much.

But if I can't open it easily it would just sit in a drawer.

These things I know for sure.

Have a great weekend!

920214.  Thats the one for us!

Very NIce !

John, that is intresting, it may be a hard pull? good question

That does look rather odd?

The Tidioute Wharnie looks as though it would be okay ,the Northfield Spear on the other hand ?

I was wanting the Northfield in the spear blade because I was so keen on the JBF Champlin that GEC made on SFO the other year, which in the rosewood I thought was little short of perfection

These look fantastic imo.  None of my #92's has a super strong pull so I expect these will be fine.  It's nice to see that the pulls on the NF's aren't being shallowed by having the swedge ground across them  I have some #23's that the pull is located in the swedge and it doesn't leave much to grab onto.  These NF's with a 'High Pull' are exactly what I have been wanting to see.....I hope they make production as drawn in this diagram.

Oh I hope you are right UN-X-LD cos I am determined to see my friend Greg about one of these when they appear and my old fingers don't have as much strength as they used to .

Don you may be onto something there ,think I may go looking for some.
