So, what do you all think of the new Hawkbill blade?  I have been telling Donnie I am not sure I like the blade combos.  I just saw this picture (I borrow Greg's alot) and think I may need one on the ez opens with it though.  what do you think?

Don't know how useful that blade shape will be to me, but these EO single blade weaver jacks scream "work knife" to me, in much the same way a sodbuster does.  I recently got one in ebony, and really like how thin and lightweight it is.  Not crazy about the blade riding so high in the closed position, but I knew that going in.   The EO notch is nice but not at all needed on the h'bill blade.  I do hope GEC will make some of these with a spear blade and make it so that the blade will ride lower in the frame in the closed position.

Big,

The 25 preiously came with a sheepsfoot blade.  TSA has 2 in stock right now you can look at.  Let me know what you think.  Thats the 25 version that we own

Anyone else have an opinion on the Hawkbills?  As a new blade configuration for GEC I honestly thought it would raise more thought.
jan tell me if i am looking at that knife wrong or not. it looks to me in that picture that the blade looks more like a gaint warncliff blade than a hawkbill it seems to me that the hawkbill knife had a curve hook blade.i might be wrong but that is what i thought...
Well....we are going to call it GEC's version of the hawkbill.  Thats actually what they are calling it but your correct that the more traditionally accepted version of the hawkbill does curve.  The three blade appears to have more of a curver.  It doesn't quite remind me of a wharncliff because of the width at the end.  I do like it in the single blade version
I'm actually refering to the Blade as a "Modified Hawkbill". In some ways it also resembles the Cotton Sampler Blade used by another knife company from Pennsylvania. Whatever you call it,the single blade Easy Open version does scream"WORK KNIFE",and the price is right for a worker.

Good to see you on Bob.

I agree, the price is great and we know the quality is always good with GEC.  Are you going to make it to the Blade Show?

That single blade Easy Open pattern is a very nice work knife.  Greg sent me one to sort of tide me over until I get my thumb back and I am finding the Easy Open feature to be especially handy for opening with either hand without the need to use the nail nick.  Until now I'd overlooked the Easy Open knives but I've changed my mind about them.  It's a good knife to have on hand, "just in case".

("hindsight", you know....).

I decided I liked it and bought one. Here it is.
How does it feel in the hand Billy?
Nice. I may use that one if I can bring myself to do that. It would make a great EDC and working knife.
It's hard to use such beautiful work.
