Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I wanted to update all of the members who are interested in the knives we are having made for us by GEC. Derek, Bill and I have been talking about this since our first knife was in the process of being made and have decided that we are going to do a Eureka Jack. We wanted to, again do an older pattern and if you look at the picture that I have included you will see 3 Eureka's. From the left, a custom knife made for me by Ken Erickson an OVB marked knife that was made by New York Knife Co and a Carrier Cutlery salesman's knife. The knife that GEC will be making will have some items from each of these. I have always loved this pattern and since it is an old one thought that it would fit in nicely with what we are doing.

Derek will be updating our website as you knives are being made and you can go to the GEC site to see the knives also. We are hoping to have the knives done by the end of Feb or the begining of March.

We will be doing something special with these also like the wiping cloths being added to the first knife so keep checking the 2 sites for more info.

Thanks Mike & Derek, JBF Champlin & Sons Cutlery

Hey Mike,

Thanks for posting the photo of your Eureka Jacks.  I am posting the photo again since it just

shows up as a file name on your post.  Our next Champlin knife will be fashioned after a blend of these 3 knives.

Derek

Excellent Pattern!

I think that would look great with GEC's American Elk. But that is me.

Well 50 of them will be stag!!

I hope it is more like the middle one, I like the lines of the handle.  But I am in for whatever it is

50 Stag...wonder if there will be more options?

Thanks for the reminder Jan about the handles, the other 50 will be in Rosewood.

AH HA, the plot thickens  LOL

There will a total of 100.  That is good to know :)

I like that you have chosen yet again a classic design and traditional materials.  What steels?

I did go to your site and see these pics up.  WOOOHOOO, It is the design I was hoping for

OK here is the latest scoop on the Eureka knives GEC will be making. If some of you noticed on GEC's website the Rosewood handles and were wonderring why none of the first knives we made had Rosewood handles for sale please go to our website and you will see where they came from and why. The Eureka will have these handles on them and let me tell you I can't wait till they are done. The handles came from the old Cattaraugus factory that my friend and I found there. To have them put on a knife that is marked JBF Champlin for us is BIG. Please let us know what you think of the article and knives that are going to be made with them.

Thanks to all the people that are following and encouraging us on this project and I will have an update later this week about what will be in the package with each knife also.

Another update on what the Eureka's will look like. They will be marked JBF Champlin over GALVANIC on the main blade tang and deep etched on the face of the main blade will be GALVANIC. The lettering will be an older type, of course. Galvanic was an early mark used by JBF in about 1882. Stay tuned as we will have one more announcement on what will be in the package with each knife. No wiping cloths this time!!!

This just keeps getting better and better

Stay tuned as we will have one more announcement on what will be in the package with each knife. No wiping cloths this time!!!

Here is the final piece on what we will be including with the knives this time around.  The Teardrop knives had wiping cloths in the tube and this time around we are going to include with each knife a knife opener. It will be in the same shape as the shield on the knives. It will also have a piece of the Cattaraugus wood on one side and will be marked JBF Champlin on the other.

If you look at the picture that Derek posted on Jan 17th and the shield on the middle knife is the shield that will be on the knives and also what the opener will look like. I should have the test openers in the mail tomorrow and I will post a picture when i get them.

Again thanks to all for your support and posts, Mike & Derek
