I found this interesting article about the .45 Colt cartridge.

I like to carry my Ruger Blackhawk .45 convertible with the .45 Colt cylinder in it in addition to my .rifle during the gun deer season here in Alabama. I have never shot a deer with the .45 but I once passed up a six foot shot at a doe with it. It stopped right in front of my portable ground blind. If it had been much closer I could have reached out and touched it. I didn't shoot it because I had glimpsed a nice buck just a few minutes before and was still hoping to get a shot at it.  Oh, I never saw the buck and after a couple of minutes the doe just ambled on its way.

Is it legal to hunt with a pistol where you hunt and if so, do you carry one?
