A friend of mine asked me to research this pistol for him.  It is a Colt Pocket Positve .32 caliber.  In my research I determined that it was made in 1925.  There is a small chip missing from the corner of the left side grip caused when he dropped it.

I thought I would post these pictures of it just for general interest.

Looks to be in great shape overall!

Cool pistol.  The grip is hard rubber and will break when hit hard....as your friend found out.  The .32 Police, I have been told, in reality .32 SW Long.  Some dispute this but I have read Cold didn't want to make a gun which uses the SW .32 long so they called it .32 Police.

You are right Clint.  The only difference between the Colt .32 Police and the S&W .32 Long is the shape of the bullet.  The S&W .32 had a round nosed bullet while the Colt had a small flat nose on the bullet.  The two rounds are interchangeable.  The reason Colt did this was to avoid putting S&W on their guns.

Very sweet Pistol indeed! Thanks for sharing! I am still on the hunt for my first Colt. I have owned a Colt Lightning Rifle, but the pistols still get away from me. Guess I am waiting for one to fall in my lap! lol
