History of Shun Knives

 

In 1974, a sales man Pete Kershaw started Kershaw Knives in Portland. After few years, he left Gerber Legendary Blades and decided to form his own cutlery company designs. The early manufacturing of knives made is Japan. In 1977, Kershaw was serving Japanese KAI Group as a support but in 1997. Kai is a large and well-reputed Japanese company. Kai purchases Kershaw knives made his Kai USA for manufacturing. The Kai USA was made with believe that Kai’s knives could be made and sold in America. KAI USA Ltd is offering three types of productions, the original Kershaw Knives name Shun Cutlery, these brands sell kitchen cutlery and Zero Tolerance, it is a combat knives.

Kai USA Ltd introduced Shun Knives in the market in 2003. Many Western restaurant workers demand a high performing Japanese Knives meanwhile Shun brought the concept to the mainstream. However, this brand of knives is well expensive than their predecessors, but if once chef has their hands on them and work with ease, they never look back. There are many types of Shun knives named Shun Classic Knives, Shun Elite Knives, Shun Ken Onion Knives, Shun Steel, Pro 2 and many more. All the types especially designed to meet expert requirements. Every category of Shun Knives is designed for a specific purpose and every category of Shun Knives is well deserved.

While talking about the home chef, for them Shun Classic Knives is the best. This brand is especially design for an enthusiastic chef. It is made of Japanese steel named VG-10. This steel is sharper and harder as compared to other European steels. Many people like the excellent combination of sharpness with lightweight handle. The handle is made of pakka wood, which is light weighted and the user feel comfortable. Some complained that the Shun Classic Knives are quiet expensive, well performance requires well price.

The second most popular brand is Shun Elite Knives. They are almost like Classic Knives in first look and there are some differences in their performance. It is made of SG-2, which is powerful steel. Powered steels are created through a unique process, which makes extremely hard and sharp. The Shun Elite Knives handle are also made of pakka wood like Shun Classic Knives. As well as chief require a knife through which he can do his work with great speed. While talking about speed, Shun Ken Onion Knives is especially design for speed safe purpose. Shun Ken Onion Knives are introduced in different shapes; some people complained that the unique designs are suitable for specific hands.
