This is an older Japanese model that is a combination Scout, Hobo, and muti-blade. Which features is definitely required to be included in a Scout, and which is required in a Hobo?

I would say the eating utensils are the only criteria for being a "Hobo", without those it is strictly a "Camp/Scout" knife.

I'd agree with Brad. A fork or spoon has to be an integral part of the knife. It may or may not come apart and it may or may not have other implements but it has to have an fork or spoon integrated some how into the knife in order to be a hobo. It is a very broad category.

The camp family is also very broad and included knives made for camping. The way I see it, camp knives include any type of mulch-implemented or fixed bladed knife designed for use in camping. It also includes a number fixed blades.

Hobos are a type of camp knife.

The scout knife is also a type of camp knife

It is a specific equal end camp knife that has a spear master blade, a cap lifter/screwdriver blade, a can opener, and a leather punch. It should also have a bail and bolsters. This was the knife pattern chosen by the Boy Scouts of America for their camp knife. They later chose a knife with the same blades and bail but without bolsters and called it the official BSA Utility knife.

So the four blade knifes with the implements described are either Scout-camp or Scout-utilities in my book. And those that were licensed and branded for the Boy Scouts of America are Official or BSA camp or BSA utility knives.

Any other blade arrangements are camp knives of a different flavor/color. (and very much appreciated.) For instances the Official Deluxe Pocket Scout Knife is is a five implement camp knife.
