Came across a Duck N Deer brand knife at hardware store today. Never saw tat beans before which got me wondering, do you buy one brand only, one style only or get an unknown knife just to have representative of that company ?

Who has done this? ,  I buy  a couple of knives and then later on see a special one I want , but I have already blown the budget buying the other knives, and  I think, hey if I had not bought five $ 20 knives I could have bought the $100 one I just found ! I do agree with what Tobias said  about research and patience, I have bought a knife on Ebay for say $23 and later on the knife went for $36-$40. The people who bought the knife at the $ 40 price could have saved some money if they had been watching the market. Granted the knives would have to be of equal condition, but the ones I have seen sell higher than what  I paid were not in as good a condition.

Ricky, Been there, Done that, Kicked myself.  Swore I'd never do it again  like the instructions on a the shampoo bottle: "Rinse and Repeat!"  Sigh.

I started by buying on impulse...most of those knives have been traded or sold at a monetary loss to me. Trial and error, what I bought then is probably now the jewel of someone else's user rotation. I don't regret buying those knives, I learned from those experiences and someone got a decent knife to use below MSRP. I am perpetuating the tradition of carrying a knife with every purchase, because I may decide after a purchase that I don't want the knife in question and that knife will find it's way to someone who does.
