Tramontina Machete. 

23".  Rusty, and handle is very dark with age, oil, and dirt.  I had to scrape off some of the rust and dirt in order to see who made it.  The stamping says "BRASIL"  not BRAZIL, so I think this was intended for semi-native use.  Not European or American markets.

Wooden handle.  Partial tang.  Looks like handle is riveted on, so I think the handle's wood is original.

Is there a way to figure out date of manufacture?

I just got this thing and I still need to clean it up more.  And of course do a lot more research on this company and product.  If anyone has any knowledge that they can share that would help me in this research, I would certainly welcome it!
