I thought, I'd pull your leg....lol
LOL
You'll stretch your barrel, trying to make a 199yd. shot with a shotgun....lol
Yes, I did mean 100 yds - wow 199 yds would be quite a shot with shotgun. Thanks for catching that Charles.
Ken, did you maybe mean 100 yards with the shotgun instead of 199 yards?
I use a shotgun some times, when I hunt on the ground in a thicket. I shoot buckshot in it. The shots are quick and close and not much time to aim. I have killed quite a few this way. In fact some of my biggest Bucks were taking in this way.
We can't use a rifle, only shotgun, pistol or muzzleloader. I also use 180 gr soft pt. I shoot only out to 50 yds with the pistol-its dead on. With the Shotgun I can go out to 199 yds. You know that may be 150 grain SP-I will check when I can.
I bow hunt from a 17 foot ladder stand. I have it positioned to get a 30 yard shot at the deer as they feed on acorns.
I have a .357 Mag rifle. I have thought about trying to take a deer with it but so far haven't. For gun season I have always used my .30-06. This season after I get one or two, I think I will try the .357. What bullet do you use? From what I have read I think I would use 180 grain jacketed soft point. And I would limit my shot to 75 yards. That shouldn't be a handicap to me. They tend to congregate 75 yards directly in front of my two shooting houses.
Charles, I hunt with both a Compound and a Crossbow. And if I need a deer when gun season comes around - this year I'll use my .357 Mag. I use both bows depending on the stand I use. I have a ground blind that I can't pull my Compound back in so I use the Crossbow there. My other stands I use the Compound. I like them both.
Yes Robert, lets see them.
