For the most part, Deer hunters that I know or have known are just good down to earth people, and generous.

Just before deer season every year, deer hunters that have deer meat left from last season, donate it to the needy.

That's a great thing to do with excess deer meat. I give some to a single older man at Church also.

Season before last when I killed four deer, I only put two of them in my freezer.  I gave one to my son's father-in-law and one to a friend of my wife who lost all her meat including deer when the power was off a week after the 2011 tornado outbreak.

Since we are going catfish and I may need to cut fish, for bait, I've decided to bring my Karesvando Sweden fixed blade knife. Along with a small hobo and my EDC pocket knife.

That's about what we can eat also.

So Robert - what knife are you taking fishing tomorrow??

2 deer along with small game and fish is all the deer meat I need in a year. Of course, some is ground up and mixed with pork for our ground meat. That makes it go further, also.

We call in also and get a  confirmation # , that must be kept on us. Strict rules. Our club enforces the laws, also. One of my jobs out there is to make sure everyone is doing it right.

I don't blame him, I would have done the same thing. Nine deer - he must have a big family.

I don't know of anyone who kills anywhere close to the full legal limit.  The most I have killed in one season is four.  Our former assistant pastor at church killed nine a few years ago.  But he didn't buy meat.  Except when they ate out.

He had an interesting incident deer hunting.  He was walking across an open field to his stand.  He saw an eight point buck and a doe standing watching him.  His intention that day was to just kill a doe.  So he shot the doe.  He said, "The buck and I just stood there and watched each other for a couple of minutes.  So I said why not and shot the buck too."
