I use a knife a lot and thought I may give ya'll a few pointers about how I use a knife. I promise I'm not a expert but an outdoorsman that uses a knife a lot sometimes.

I hear a lot about a handle that won't slip, when wet, and a few other things about handles. That's why I thought I'd start a little discussion.

I will want ya'll opinion as we go. Thanks.

Please don't worry, Alex it will be fine. I had an small operation last week, so I haven't been in the woods yet. I'll try it out soon.

I don't know about that. Maybe just not very confident instead? I'll go for that. I know I did everything right.....but there's still always a chance of something going horribly wrong.

(Part of my dayjob is risk analyses where you see what parts of a piece of software could go wrong and how they would do so)

But I suspect Rob's knife will work just fine :-)

Alexander, that just makes you a true artisan and gentleman.

I'll tell you....I feel like the knife is a good one. But I still always get nervous when someone starts using one of mine.....(hoping I didn't do anything wrong so that it falls apart or something the first time he uses it.

Yes the knife takes a great edge. It is very sharp and ready for work. I like some of my knives to form a patina and some I prevent them from forming a patina. So either way it will look good to me.

I'm soo glad it arrived! And not in bad time too considering it came from all the way across the atlantic :-)

Rob should have no problem using that one. Besides. Even if he does make it ugly he can always send it back to me to make it pretty again :-)

That is a sweet knife, Robert.

It is made out of a Harriers Rasp. The people that are not familiar with this type of Rasp, it's for horse hooves. The temper is not as hard as a file. This type of rasp is almost always made of fine carbon steel, through and through. The type of steel used, most of the time is 1095 or W1.
