Getting back to knives a little bit, Alex Noot, has just finished a fine knife for me made out of a old Harriers Rasp. For those that are not familiar with a Harriers rasp, it's a rasp made for horse hooves. The old ones are all tool steel and not tempered as hard as a file. They are wider than most rasp or files. The steel in the older ones is usually W1 or sometimes 1095 carbon steel. I hope to clean deer and wild hogs with it. I designed it to help me clean turtles and Alligators but for now, it'll have to work on deer and hogs. I'll post pictures, when I get it. If ya'll are looking for a nice custom fixed blade, ya'll should contact, Alex Noot. He's one of our best members.
Congrats Ken. You have plenty of fine eating now.
Sounds like a good day out Ken
Thanks all - nothing big or to brag about but I got our meat.
Great news, Ken.
Congrats Ken! One inch antlers, should be young and tender. Make some good eating.
Thanks Charles, I got another one, see below.
Shot a Buck that I thought was a Doe - 1" antlers - it counts as a Doe in Ohio and my wife came and helped me drag it to the truck. I have 2 nice deer now and should have enough meat - I may hunt for 1 more to give to a guy at Church.
Good luck Ken.
