My cousin who lives in Harlan, Kentucky just posted this on Facebook: "Mark just ran the Bear out of our neighbors trash. I got to see it this time it's big."
I'm thinking when I go visit I'm not going to complain about the raccoons that rummage in my garbage from time to time. I don't want to look like a sissy around here.
I guess the shooting is the easy part. You've convinced me, if an when this old man finally takes up hunting it is going to be SMALL game!
Charles, what a story, you must have a good heart, I don't think I could have done that right now, when younger yes, but not now. Thanks for sharing.
BTW Ken, my crossbow is a Barnett.
Ken if my heart couldn't take deer hunting, I would be dead already. Last season I saw over 200 deer while hunting. And there were some nice bucks in them.
And if that didn't kill me, this would have. Four seasons ago I had to drag a deer 700 yards to get it to my truck. It was 600 yards from my truck when I shot it. Naturally it ran in the opposite direction from my truck and went down in a creek bed with a four foot bank. First problem was to get it over that bank, then had to drag it 100 yards uphill through the woods to get it back to the open field where I shot it. Next was 400 yards across the muddy wheat field and finally 200 more yards across grass to get to the truck. And last but not least had to get it in the truck bed by myself.
When I got to the truck I had to just sit and rest awhile to get my breath back before even trying to get the deer in the truck. Also had to stop and rest about every 100 yards while dragging it.
Before the next season, I had my four wheeler! I said this fat boy isn't going to do that again!
Good luck Robert - bring home the venison.
That's about what my Crossbow cost - I have an Excaliber.
Well, went hunting tonight - already used my Buck tag (only 1 Buck in Ohio per year) - was hopeing for a big Doe. at 5:15pm a Big Buck came into my shooting lane and gave me a great shot, massive antlers and base - was that a test - I passed. Then I had two good shots on two different Does but not big enough so I passed on them. I'm getting to old for this. Can my heart take this excitement??? Ask your Doctor if your heart can take deer hunting.
Try a little WD-40 or some dish detergent on a rag to wipe the arrow down before shooting it into the cube.
Charles,
Yep, one of my brothers-in-law got the same bow ($450.). The other brother-in-law bought the $1K. bow
BTW Howard, you are looking at nice crossbows. Mine was "only" about $450.
