Howard, you are right about pulling the arrow out. To pull mine out I have to sit down with both feet against the cube and pull with both hands.
Good Luck, Robert!
Robert,
I don't own a crossbow ($1,000. seems to be a bit high for an ancient, pre-gun powder weapon), but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn, and did a little target practice with a couple crossbows recently, and found that when using one of them there spiffy store-bought target cubes, you better lube the arrow, or call the Incredible Hulk to pull the arrow out.
Robert, hope you come back with pictures of a kill to show us!
I'm heading to my camp this weekend to do a little bow hunting. It will be my first try. I shoot a handi cap cross bow. It even has a crank to pull the string to the cocked position. I shoot mechanical arrow heads, instead of broad heads, the reason being, they shoot the same as my target arrows. There's no need to re-sight in. Good luck to all and ya'll go pass a good time in the Outdoors.
Last night at the banquet, there was a venison dish cooked with a Cranberry sauce until it melted in your mouth, it was so tender. Wow. I wish I had the recipe. I do know it was cooked a long time in a slow cooker pot.
Hey, congrats Ken. That's great news. You are the first to brake the ice. I think. A young buck is always good eating and by taking him early before winter, he should be fat and sassy. Please try for some photos.
Congrats, Ken.
Way to go Ken!
Got my Buck about 3 hrs ago, no pics, dark, just a 4 pt but should be real good eating.
