Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Just a comment.  The new Knife Magazine emerging from the earlier  Knife World has just knocked me out - probably the most beautiful magazine I have ever seen.  I like very much that they have kept some of the traditional columns, but the commitment to format and photographs is breathtaking. I do not know Mark Zalesky  personally, though many of my friends speak very highly of him. My thanks to him for taking knife world in this direction.

If you are not getting this magazine, it is such a treat -  Spinning off a current thread, It is not a knife show, but again a deeper source than the online sellers.  I hope this effort bears fruit and grows big.  .

I agree. If anyone is looking for a top tier knife magazine for all types of collectors or dealers, this is the magazine you need to have.  Start collecting them now while they are in their first year of publication!

Mark has made a great transformation with Knife World since he became its owner. I cannot imagine anyone who likes knives not wanting this publication. He is the best at covering the knife hobby from Antique, Modern, Custom, and other related things in the hobby by finding contributors to the publication as well as his own contributions. Should one have the occasion to meet Mark in person one will find Mark to be personal, down to earth & a pleasure to talk with.

Another reason to visit a knife show.  Mark does exhibit at a great number of them.  The wealth of information he represents is wonderful.  On his table is always a knife I have never seen before and my next book I need to but LOL.

Mark is not only a very good author on his own but in the new Knife Magazine he brings in so many other legendary cutlery writers that each of the editions so far have made me read them from cover to cover

Love the new format, only downside is the cost of a subscription has gone up.  I wish them all the best.  I particularly like the Whut Izzit column, always interesting and the author Bernard Levine has even shown some of my knives and answered questions about them.

It is so nice to hear all the feedback! Mark has done a fantastic job with his staff on the new format. I have been writing for them for years now and its been an absolute pleasure and privilage.  Hope you enjoy the next issue and beyond!

I agree David, the cost going up is a downside and I dont subscribe to the other knife mags.  I used to but it gets too costly so I chose to subscribe to this one only, it best fits my reading and collecting style.  I do believe though that thi is still the least costly of them all

I really like the new format.  I think it was a great improvement to an already good publication and well worth the cost.  I would like to be able to meet Mark someday.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words -- the response from the entire knife community has been fantastic, all interests and all levels. We are working our tails off to make this work, and it's working so far.

I was a little surprised to see the comment on the rate increase as we only went from $25.00 to $29.95 (12 issues a year). For your $4.95 additional you get full color printing on glossy paper throughout rather than newsprint with some color, and 16 additional pages of content every month. These changes DOUBLED our printing costs and increased our costs for writers etc. by about 40%. These increases are mostly borne by our advertisers -- so please support them, our subscribers are reaping the benefits of their support!!

I do get around to a lot of the shows -- please stop by and introduce yourself if you get the chance. We're a relatively small operation and this is a labor of love -- not at all like the big publishing houses. I'm proud to say that I know quite a lot of our subscribers personally and wouldn't have it any other way.

Mark, I think the value of the changes you have made in the magazine is far more than $4.95 per year!  It is a fantastic magazine to a knife collector and is a bargain at $29.95 a year.  I know we all hate to see prices increase on the things we want and need especially if there is no increase in real value.  But in this case in my opinion the value was increased more than the price.  When my subscription is up for renewal I will without a doubt renew.  And I am a retiree living on Social Security and a pension.

I would like to meet you someday Mark but due to having to take care of my wife, I am unable to travel far from home.  If you are ever around North Alabama, give me a holler and I will buy your lunch.

Thanks for the kind words Charles, I appreciate it. We're working hard to continue to produce a knife magazine that true knife enthusiasts will want to subscribe to -- and something more attractive than the old Knife World format. I understand that $4.95 is $4.95, but I think we're delivering a much better product than before. So far, the response to it has been fantastic and really gratifying. We absolutely made the right move.

I note that the Dalton, GA show has been cancelled this year -- that's close to NE AL but it ain't gonna happen this time around -- I may get to Batson's hammer in for a day this year and I usually take the Chattanooga to Birmingham route. That take me anywhere near you?

Mark, I assume your route between Chattanooga and Birmingham would be I-59.  The closest that would bring you to Athens would be at Birmingham.  Athens is about 90 miles straight up I-65 from Birmingham.  Even if you cut across from Chattanooga to Athens then down I-65 to Birmingham, that is still about 90 miles further than the direct route.  And most of that extra 90 miles isn't interstate.  So as much as i would like to meet you, that is just too far for you to go out of your way.
