I just got this Rough Rider RR22034BN orange smooth bone trapper.  I have never seen this type of RR model no. before.  Is it a new numbering system for RR?  Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Hi Charles.  I don't know anything about Rough Rider or their numbering system but if you type "RR22034BN" into Google they seem to be all over the place.

I am hoping someone knows this too (because I don't LOL)

It must be a new numbering system at least for bone trapper knives because everybody that sells RR's seems to have them.  By googling I found that RR22034 designates an amber jigged bone trapper and RR22034W designates a white smooth bone trapper.

I would still like to know more.

? Hopefully they are not being knocked off. I have seen that trapper, but not with that number. Tobias might know.

Well, after googling and going to SMKW's web site and looking at all 634 Rough Riders (don't worry, my eyes will uncross soon) on their site, it appears that this number was used for one particular series of RR's.  And since they are on SMKW's site, they are apparently authentic RR's.  And why would anyone try to knock off RR's, they are already a low cost Chinese knife.

Anyway here is what the numbers I found designate.

RR22034 - amber jigged bone trapper

RR22034BN - orange smooth bone trapper

RR22034W - white smooth bone trapper

RR22034WSO - white smooth bone Pride of the South embellished trapper

I only found four other RR's that had five digit model numbers.  Two of them started with 0 (zero) and two with 1.  None of these four are trappers and none of the four are similar to each other.

And I don't see anything about these trappers that is different from other RR trappers that would be a reason to give them a special model number.

OK, so maybe it is going to be a new numbering system??

I remember having at least one knife that had a model number like that. Let me look it up.
They are definitely no Rough Ryder knock offs yet.
