Spyderco Pride ~ C72 originally had an MSRP of $49.95

In several countries throughout the world, folding knives which lock open have come under scrutiny and are being legally restricted. We've developed our C72 Pride to accommodate these restrictions. Politically and socially friendly it has a 2 1/4" slip-joint blade of AUS-6 steel and a handle of brushed aluminum. Inlayed Into the handle Is an enamel cloisonn+? enamel flag of your choice: USA, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Japan, France, Mexico, Israel, Sweden, South Africa, Diver or the Spyderco bug. Special order flags can also be produced for any country, state, city, corporate or group logo (minimum order 350). The Pride's lightweight cutout clip carries tip-down. As you know Patrik, a knife or anything of value, is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I see sellers with "buy it now" prices on these for, as you mention, between 150 and 275. That doesn't mean they're actually being bought at those prices, though. You can ask whatever you want for something. That doesn't mean you'll get it. One way to determine their worth is to list them in a "no reserve" auction starting at 0.99 cents and let those people who are interested bid them up to whatever their desire to own one dictates. Personally, I would place a value of somewhere between 50 and 125 tops. But that's just me. I'd like to get one for much less, of course. *grin* But, then again, if I owned them I'd probably just hang onto to them. They're 10 years old, now. Keep 'em for another 10 and their value will probably double or triple?

Hello Spyderco collector's.

Got recently 3 spyderco pride and I need to know what could be the collector's value. They are new in box and are discontinued since 2004  I saw some on ebay go from 150-270. Ebay can be pretty ridiculous on rare items. I really would like to know the price of them today.

I truly appreciate your letting us and sharing that the box and paperwork are no longer indicators for this line.  Be careful out there folks, until Spyderco gets a handle on this buy from reputable dealers or someone you know to be reputable

The counterfeiting or cloning of knives has been a real problem and will continue.  The bottom line is this.  When you get in bed with dogs you get fleas.  If you have some or all of your product made in China then they will counterfeit your product.  Gerber, CRKT, Buck, Puma, and others have experience this.  Now it is Spyderco's time.  To avoid this you have to buy from reputable dealers or if you go on line you should go to online dealers like Blade HQ.

It is frustrating for sure but you just have to tighten up your game on buying the quality knives.  eBay is not a good place to find quality knives.  If it is cheap on ebay then it is a fake.

The whole situation is really really bad it is because they started to clone not just the knife but also the box and papers so it is really hard to tell if you are buying the real thing or the clone. I did my research over the last couple of months and spoke with friends that own such clones one of the conclusion we came to was that somehow the factory that is making in Taiwan and have access to the material have made those clones this does not apply to the military or paramilitary because they are made in US. (or one speculation was that because spyderco US factory could no meet the demand and they started to outsource the production elsewhere  who knows?) One of my friend ordered the military and paramilitary because he wanted the replace the scales on his original and then he realized that they do not fit so maybe this is proof of that they did not had the original blueprint's. The next thing is that the southard and southard clone are so similar line on the outside and inside that this leaves the space for speculation that somebody maybe did stole the blueprints or even the factory that is producing the for spyderco is indeed involved in some shady business. My friend did the comparison and he is a spyderco collector and he was impressed with the fir and finish.  I personally did handle just the original and currently I don't have access to the clone to make my own observation. Back to the construction issues of the clones: The paramilitary 2 has no pivot bushing also the dragonfly has no washers. The military has the backspacer made out of aluminum also the G10 is more like on the tenacious series has just not enough traction. All above are just small hints and they really do not provide you with exact guidance how to avoid clones. You have to buy it and take it apart to be 100% sure. So I recommend to but from dealers who give you money back guarantee. I would avoid ebay, amazon a such online shops. I think is save to say that authorized dealers like Blade HQ and other are buyng directly from spydeco so you can have some assurance that you will not get a clone. I'm really interest if spyderco can do something about this whole situation. I would be interested how much clones are coming in for warranty service. I hope this will help.

Patrick Thank you!  It feels rather like an invasion.  I know you can probably tell because you spend a good deal of time with Spyderco's but is there a way to tell or is it just buy from an authorized dealer until this is over?  Buying from a dealer is always safer but some of these only seem to be avail online at eBay right now

To all spyderco lovers and fans.

The Chinese have started a massive clone war. Be very careful if you buy your spyderco knifes online from not a authorized dealer.

Here are some models that are currently floating on internet From pictures they are very difficult to spot the clone!

Military in plain and part. serrated blade in sateen or black finish with black orange digicam and brown G10 and also in full titanium version.

Paramilitary 2 in Plain sateen or black blade  with black, digicam, green, brown, orange, blue and red G10

Both models have original marking with all stamps and description on the blade all the model above come in a original spyderco box with papers

Southard in plain stonewash blade with carbonfiber, black, brown, blue, green and orange G10.

This model also comes in a original spyderco box with all marking on the blade.

Dragonfly in plain sateen blade with black G10

Drafonfly H1 in plain sateen blade with yelow and black FRN.

All models have original marking and come in a original spyderco box with no papers.

Caly 3.0 in plain sateen blade with black G10.

The knife comes in a original spyderco box with original marking on the blade and papers.

Civilian in full serrated sateen blade in black G10  (you can spot this one because it has a double stainless steel liner)
