Mine are still in transit.

I used the 3K on my Russell Woodswalker .. it put a nice smooth edge on it.

I supported the diamond whetstone on a similar size 3/4" thick pc of wood.

I suggest .. running something over the edges. Like the break-in you mentioned. There existed a couple "high spots" along the very edges. They mellowed out quick enough after running my home made FF over the edge closest to me.

I then put a pretty smooth edge on the Woodswalker .. AUS-8 tempered to a 58 +/-1 HRC.

.

Let me know what you think of yours.

You still waiting on yours , JJ ???

.

I'm loving mine !!!

.

The 2K & 3K grits.

Still waiting, Dale.
I'm guessing that you now prefer the continuous coverage stones?

Had never tried a partial coverage before ..&.. likely, never will again.

!! . YES . !! ... on the full coverage preference.

...... am writing it (partial coverage 1K) off as a ..relatively.. cheap lesson.

.

Am sorry you're still waiting for yours.

Based on what use I've already implemented .. my 2K & 3k whetstones

You'll be pleased.

.

Enjoy

Dale

Mine are in...

Haven't done much but see that they were all here, but they look good. Can't get in to a long sharpening session, tonight, so I'll have to wait till the weekend to see how they stack up.

Inexpensive are the best type of learning experiences Dale.  Maybe they can become part of a tackle box or glovebox kit
