I picked up a knife that to me appears to be a bit on the unusual side.  Photos tell the story better than I can.  The tang is stamped with KB in a circle.  Here it is:

a second photo:

A guy at our local knife club meeting thought it might be a tobacco knife.  I was hoping that some of the more experienced older members might shed some light on this one.  It is cerrtainly an interesting old knife, at least it is to me.

I have since polished the litte bit of rust off of the area where the tang stamp is.

I have never seen the like.  That blade shape is completely new to me.

But I am not a big folder guy either.

About  as close as anything else, Jan.  You may be right.  Thanks for the insight.

Could it be a "rope knife?"

The only 'rope' knives I have heard of, are sailor's knives.  But the ones of those I have seen have a little more of a 'cleaver' like blade.  That pronounced hump on the spine is throwing me off.
