are very obscure advertisement knives that have handles that are gassing such as celluloid....the handles will need to come off to save the knife so ill grab a pic of the ad why knife is still whole. also the saying a picture is worth a 1000 words is true with knives{most of the time}...especially vintage that have not been studied much or have much of a recorded history.
ill take 10 pics just to say.."hey this did exist" ..this company did make cutlery... thats why i collect letterheads and boxes and everything knife.you never know when its gonna come in handy...or when that fella is goa have that question that you have the answer to because you took the time 5 years prior to save the information you learned along with pics! ...cutlery is my only real daily history lesson so i like to store what i learn so i can go back to it so when i do buy knives i can make informed choices..not guesses.
with the knife shown above...with how many serrated blades it has...and with the difference in coloring of the steels...and where patina is and where its not...thats already enough questions...and for how "mint/cleaned" it is... and please someone speak up... do horsie knives normally have a pruner blade? and with alredy having the hoof pick blade...is the button hook blade for giant riding gloves?? also welding that cork blade on knives like this have been found out a lot of times to have been welded right where the "spiral" meets the straight piece.
if you have more pics would love em for a guessing game?? thanx for the fun!

embers that sponsor us do not advertise in the site other than their paid ads on the sides of the pages. This is what keeps the lights on and they rely on me to keep their business names out there on many other internet access areas away from our site also.
If the membership has a different thought than what is in the rules, please, let's talk about it. Remember, it is the membership that makes iKC great, I just drive the bus.
Mostly the members come here to look at, research and talk about knives with like minded. So rather than do this 3 times a day to individuals, I thought I would just send a general reminder. If the membership has a different thought than what is in the rules, please, let's talk about it. oros. it's been almost 8 years since i quit smoking and i think it's about time to pop the marlboro ad off of my knives and replace those scales with the color of my choice. i really liked the yellow scales in the youtube vid that you provided the link for, wayne! thanks!
here's what i'm talking about in case you're not already familiar with the old marlboro miles incentive program marlboro/phillip morris used to promote smoking their brand...
i'm thinking yellow on one and black on the other?
anyway...thanks, guys!…
al application (sitting/squating, standing up, moving around), and some kind of softer medium like nylon is needed for freedom of movement. Like this Ka-Bar Kydex/Nylon mix:
But the ad says that it fits specific Ka-bar knives (1211, 1212, 1215, 1217, 1218, 1220, 1241, 1242, 1243, 9105, 9106, 9108, 9109, and 9110) John McDowell said:
i love kydex, hate nylon with plastic insert,to much rattle.great kydex in your pic.

k) for the likes of re-enactors at Rendezvous or a historic battle sites with groups like AMM, SASS/CAS or The BAR or Napoleonic Societies.
M.L. Knives states so right on his sight.
“The finest Custom hand forged hand crafted knives for the Hunter, Fisherman, Re-enactment of early America, General Outdoors person, woodsman all around kitchen use, Buck skinner, Cowboy, Mountain man.. And all good folk!”
and you can see it in the finished pieces of the influence that of William Scagle has on Jim Behring’s Treeman Knives.
You could also try Ruana Knives
http://www.ruanaknives.com/
especially their S/H - Steelhead Knife Blade: 3 1⁄2”, 1/8” stock. Handle: 4 1⁄2”. $240 and is a beautiful little knife…I’ve used a few of them and while not the greatest fillet knife you can do it and I’ve also used it as a caper on caribou and to skin out a beaver…Great Little knife!
I’ve also used their 5 AD-Drop Point Sticker—Blade: 4”, 1/8” stock. Handle: 4 1⁄2”.$280 and it’s a brute of a knife but handles so nicely.
We’ve had a few others of theirs up to the lodge—10B, 6BD, 95MP, 95AD (just a larger 5AD version) and I think a 27AC and I’ve handled a few of their Bowies at various events over the years 29A, 30A and the fabulous 35B, their standard 9½” Bowie…Really, really good maker of very tough knives.
For some really nice, custom work—the 2¾” Model #V-7 Trout & Bird from Rob Charlton of Damascus USA is very hard to beat especially when it sells for about $175.00 w/Buffalo Horm/Micarta scales or now with Paracord…Small, light, strong back and with a very precise blade.

Also check out his two Capstick models V-6 & V-12, the two versions of W.F. Moran V-10s, the V-2 Hunter/Camper and beautiful V-80 Whitetail (designed by one of the top female cutlers, Carol Gurganus.), the so well thought out V-62 Gen Yeager and V-9 “JRS”, and the V-3 Teensy which I’ve never handled but told was excellent for squirrels…I love the V-85 “Chute”…
ven of them. Met some very fine folks here at iKC, Jan & Johnny and many others too. Knife collecting these past two years has been a outlet and distraction for me during my wife's battle with brain cancer. Some of you have been very supportive during some rough times and I thank you for that. Her cancer appears to be almost cured, she only has two more chemotherapy treatments. And now I got a whole boatload of these darn knives!!!! Now I am the one who needs treatment - a 12 step knife addiction therapy - that will take longer than two years to cure! It's been fun hearing everyones stories and I too look forward to getting up in the morning or checking the posts every evening for the latest posts (Johnny yours are some of the best - I think you are really the secret head of marketing at GEC cause I have bought more knives after reading your stories than because of any ad or company web site) and seeing pictures of everyones collections and latest acquisitions. Some of those stories and pictures have convinced me that I needed to try out different knives that I had never thought of owning. I could stand to learn a bit more about photography from many of you all because your pictures put mine to shame. But I sure have enjoyed being part of the GEC collectors group here at iKC and all of you folks. I'm anxious to hear the rest of your stories too folks. Jan don't leave us hangin'. :)…
e..and havent come across the bridge ..Nice SK!! i dont have any of the SCRIPT stamp it seems yours is.mine are all the regular D.peres soligen germany ..ectect.
most of the D.PERES knives that i have, not all, that are metal handled celebrate the area of philadelphia in some way. i have otthers that ill save for a nice pic. one of them even has a PO BOXnumber in phila,pa as part of the TANG STAMP!! ..have you ever seen that.
D.PERES dates 1885-[im not sure who owns them now if anyone} BUT- D.PERES was imported from GERMANY to the USA by MAGNETIC CUTLERY CO.. in Phila,Pa. also the trademark i see on most of my perees is the KEG/BARRELL it comes in 2 different forms -with only suttle change. i have seen a few knives without it and others with 2 ..some on the tangs! of course importing to phila you can tell which oneswere contracted by MAGNETIC ..i have a bunch with the MAGNETIC CUTLERY stamp and the peres ..but some are just the peres.
i do have celluloid PERES knives.. which for me are harder to find. but way cheaper!..
these make great collections, are not that hard to find.some are sought after of course more then others but you can find deals.theyare "ad" knives in some aspects as you can tell that most are souvenir knives.i have a few markd as so on the one handle."souvenir of atlantic city".i can just barley remember tthe days when the museums in PHILA still offered even
one other stamp i have and its on the blade i cant make out all the way but its soomething COMPLIMENTS ON SALES..or something.. big ATLANTIC CITY knife! ill just get another picture.
you can also find D.PRES straight razors. -hope i helped- i follow up withsome pics shortly.. i just wanted to get some info out their! -and some fun facts!...LOL!…
s. Help me refine the rules, this is OUR community, not mine.
Right now it is pretty simple. Ads are available within groups and on the front page. Advertisement is limited to the ad space and most of our advertisers are people you know as friends within the community, they come on and talk with us about their companies, future plans and knives. What I ask of them is not to interfere with discussions by talking sale. This seems to have worked very well. It has given us all the opportunity to get to know these folks, keep up with their companies and know what is coming...I love this interchange!
Our custom makers put their knives up for us to see and they have a link on their page if anyone wants to contact them about one. I also love this idea. It allows us all to get to know makers, their style and in most cases the types of materials they use. Again, a good many of them have become our fellow knife nuts in the community.
Any sale from either of these types are taken off site and handled directly between the buyer and seller
What I need help with refining is the folks that join just to ask us if we want to buy their knives.
So share with me your pet advertising peeve and let me see if I can refine the grey area and keep you from feeling like your favorite site is allowing advertisers to "bug" you
Thanks for the help!
Jan

good and our rules do state that is not allowed and must be handled through email. For the most part everyone has done a good job of abiding by the rules but every so often something comes up and we deal with that usually one on one and the ones who don't like that go somewhere else like Facebook and do their business. For the most part Dealers are the same and we have had some good some bad over time.
Here is the main thing that bothers me and I am actively looking for a solution. Individuals who come in to iKC, take part in absolutely no discussion, like no other pictures, fail to participate in our community at all, make no friends, don't convey any knowledge...nada. Strictly a For Sale Ad and that's it.
I would love to know what to do with these folks. Ban them, delete them, charge them for advertising before the post...I mean who is going to buy anything from someone you don't know without some kind of buyer protection. (None of which we offer) Most are unfriendly and some don't even respond when a question is actually asked causing that person to believe its dead.…

of clarity, I did this when I was half asleep). An email window popped up with an attachment of the document type. I entered my email & sent it off, both times they worked (the txt option was pretty jumbled, but the Excel spreadsheet was pretty nice).
The export option worked pretty well (& quite easily) for me, but obviously there's some sort of glitch you're having. From how freely they talk about problems in the app (& even the ad for the app, if I recall), it sounds like glitches are pretty common in the app. The Runner App people (the Knives & Swords Collector App publisher) sound like they want to hear from you directly if you're having some sort of recurring problem, but I have no idea what they're customer service is like (or whether they want to hear from you to help you of simply to get their stats accurate).
Either way, you paid $5.99 for their app, they should be pretty willing to help you -- word of mouth is huge in collector circles, & one bad review often won't be negated even by 99 good reviews. Hopefully the publisher understands this & will help you out. Good luck, Jaron!…
