s, Cold Steel has been at the forefront of the many innovations that have helped to define the knife industry as a whole. Progressive accomplishment, including the introduction of the checked Kraton® handles, and the tanto point blade styles have gone from curiously interesting features to industry-wide hallmarks of quality and sophistication.
New ground was also broken with the introduction of unique new blade steels like San Mai III® and Tri-Ad™ Lock& locking mechanism for folding knives. Tri-Ad™ Lock for example, has never been equaled by any of Cold Steel's competitors and nothing they have produced yet has been proven to outperform it.

ting (very aggressive) and cutting-edge marketing minded. Why do I say that?Well, for several reasons- they did a joint venture with Gold Cross Coffee to promote their knives to coffee buyers. Plus, they invented/created a standard for their company their competitors couldn't use- and it was easily recognizable. It was the TESTED XX standard. In fact, it was so valuable W R Case bought it from them (or took it from them, whichever way you want to look at it.)Read this ad for a better flavor of the marketing savviness. Taken from Harvey Platts Book- Knife Makers Who Went West. It is my favorite ad of all!

settled. People may laugh that I dont have a particular brand i collect, i buy what appeals to me. When i started it was the cheaper versions that allowed me to own enough knives, that were cheap enough to use, that allowed me to formulate what works for me and what is hog wash (excuse the reference Hog). You get what you pay for, in most cases. I'm glad that the knife industry is such that it allowed me to make up MY mind. Now i can focus my money where my hand is, not buying flashy ad queens!…
