authentic sailor knive sometimes called nautic bowie    ( this one without marlin spike)

dutch sailors used to carry this in the middle of the lower back so it could be grabbed left- or right handed when climbing

sometimes the captain ordered to break off the tip before sailing (!)

preferably sharpened on a very rough stone so it would "saw" through ropes easier

remake of an 19th century knife  but still in use today.....  ( but now stainless of course )
