J.J. Smith III,I used a drill bit the same thickness as the tang; marked on the tine where I wanted the tang to go, and drilled down to the marked depth.  I used a small file to make the tang fit snugly.  On test fit, the tang stuck out about 1/8 inch, so i heated the tang and burned in the rest of the depth to fit.  Once I was pleased how it came together, I used clear epoxy, and clamped everything in place for a couple of days so that the epoxy would cure completely.  All squeeze out was sanded off with many different grits of sand paper, and sealed with refined linseed oil.
