Very nice knife.

It appears .. to me .. to have been in proximity with another that "gassed out". I've seen the same damage on some of mine. i.e. the damage is limited to the exposed area of the bare steel. I'm guessing .. this knife was laying down ..btm side not damaged.. & the upper side was damaged when a knife in close proximity "gassed out". Unfortunately .. not much can be done about the pitting. The active oxidation / rust can be removed .. but .. the pitting .. it's there for good.

If you've other knives w/ celluloid scales .. I'd isolate them ...

!!! NOW !!!

Paul .. I still have many of Parkers "catalogs". I also purchased a fair amount from said flyers / catalogs. ..&.. I've a # of Weidmannsheil in stag. They are absolutely wonderful knives.

Before EBay became popular Jim Parker offered a mailed knife listing and a small booklet.  I have some of the Bulldog series including the Sunfish.  I got mostly the stag handles which is lucky because the celluloid knives were found to be highly corrosive.  I did get two celluloid Christmas sunfish which look great with mixed colors; they both became corroded but clean up somewhat. One is a knife which I often use almost daily.

I wanted to carry the smaller sunfish several of which had stag handles.  They look just right for the change pocket on jeans. They were too beautiful so stay just sitting in the box looking minty.

Jim Parker had a rep as someone to be watched carefully.  Overall the knives I got from him were well worth the price.  The Bulldog brand and Weidmannsheil are what I consider as "Super Premium".  They both are well made (German), well designed, and had a nice heft in your hand. These are made in other countries now.
