i kept the biggest jumping spider i had ever seen. i let her go ater awhile. she spun herself inside a web cocoon, and had babies . i took the web with the babies and placed them in my basement. i did it because they won't hurt my dog or cat; but will kill a brown recluse. 

i had a black widow or quie awhile, she died mysteriously after my last feeding attempt. she always ate sm. crikets i bought her. was real sad to ind her dead and the crickets dead uneaten too.

Okay, 2 questions:

1)  Were you aware that it was a brown recluse bite right away, or was that something you discovered only after the bite are started going wonky?

2)  What did you use to take this photo?  Given the detail, size of your subject, & the close distance, seems like the same equipment & technique would be great for knife photography...

Yuck!  Glad it is healing and hope you got to kill the spider
