robert! i have to thank you. i had never heard of a "feist squirrel dog" until i looked at your profile and noticed that you raise 'em as a hobby. so, naturally, being the curious type, i googled them. wow! they certainly are cool looking little dogs. i even discovered forums dedicated to the breed where folks can get together and share stories and pictures of their dogs, just like we do with our knives. i guess that's just one more thing that a city slicker like myself missed out on.
i'm sure, being from alabama, you've heard the old groucho marx line from the movie, "Animal Crackers"...While shooting elephants in Africa, I found the tusks very difficult to remove. But in Alabama, the Tuscaloosa...
have a great day, my friend, and thanks for teaching this old dog a new trick!
Thanks Ron, problem with these snakes is they kill our dogs.
i'm all about lovin' and respectin' critters. but i share no love for mr. no-shoulders! 'specially the poisonous ones. i liked this pic because now there's one less snake in the grass for me to worry about jumpin' up and bittin' me in the butt. thank you, robert!
oh, yeah! nice knife, too!
Let's just be happy it never managed to plunge it's fangs in 'ya lol.
I agree to 100% with your statement, I just wondered if "is this a guy that actually knifed a rattlesnake??!!". Good call on grabbing a long stick for it, you are a sound hunter respecting natures threats, after all the hunter should stay the hunter and not be the hunted (insert video of random photographer moron being bitten trying to get a picture) :)
Pretty happy I only have to worry about their x50 times less potent cousin that lives in Sweden.
What I would like to know is how on earth you managed to knife that thing. Sure for a gunshot but going mano el mano with a rattlesnake and a knife should rank pretty high on the crazy scale.
You just stomped into it's nest by the way, notice the white egg remains? That's a female in her den, I've heard they get pretty pissed when you do that.
