I won this knife for winning the chili cook off at the BHK camp out. It is the midsized knife of 3 kitchen knives they made a few sets of. It has a 440C blade. I intend to use this for food prep while camping.

Oh...and yes - the Buck 110's used 440C up through 1981. Somehow I felt the need to close the loop on this, but forgot to add it to the reply. I can be so Polish sometimes!  :-)

Oh good deal there bud! I too am a 440C fan...it's stood the test of time and keeps on performing. And for kitchen/camping - that's a right hansome piece. But I'm with Kevin...no samples of your award winning chilli for your loyal knife fans? I mean c'mon...we love and support you with every posting....  :-D

In all seriousness - well done!

Congrats!  Winning any Chili Cook Off is awesome and to score a BHK is a super nice bonus!

I don't claim to be an epicurean, I want to try that chili!

SCORE!  Looks like an incredible slicer, so rare to get a knife like this with Micarta scales!  440C works for me -- way less rust than 1095!  I also recall when 440C was top of the line for decent knives -- as I recall, the Buck 110 was made with 440C around the time that I became aware of its existence in the mid-80's.  Feel free to correct me (anyone, feel free), as that was a long time ago, & I knew very little about knives back then, so I might be transposing memories of ads for other knives & the Buck 110.  Regardless, I'm old enough to remember when 440C was, for all intents & purposes, a Proto Super Steel!  And man, I just want to cut some fruits & vegetables with that knife...!
