A VERY informative book by Dr. Larrin Thomas. provides a fairly in-depth discussion on the various steels, heat treats, and edge geometry. The edge geometry is THE most important factor in determining a blades performance for a specific application.

Now hold on here...  I resemble that remark!   lol.

Just because I understand his testing, the differences between BCC and FCC, the different microstructures in steel caused by various heat treating recipes and such...  Doesn't mean I was thiiiiiis close to majoring in metallurgy or anything.
