Little skinner

Steel 1.2379 (D2), hardened up to 60 HRc, guard - 10 mm copper plate, handle - white mahogany. The blade is stick tang, it is just glued in the handle. The handle is impregnated with a mixture of turpentine, linseed oil and wax.
At the beginning I was thinking to make the handle with guard and heel from stainless steel (AISI 304), but a 10 mm copper plate was gifted to me and so I decided, that the redd color of the copper, the white of the mahogany and the natural brown of the leather will be much better combination.
It turned out, that the mahogany is a very pleasant to work with tree. It is easy to cut and shape. The only problem with it is, that it is easy to stain it while working with it. When I was roughly shaping the handle, there were no problems. At the final shaping I noticed, that there are some wide pores, but they do not hinder the appearance of the knife. That is why I smoothed it with a 800 grit sandpaper and than I impregnated it with a mixture of linseed oil, turpentine and bees wax. On the next day I impregnated it once more but this time only with linseed oil. After that I waited some time for the oil to polymerize and polished the handle with carnauba wax.
There it was - a knife with very warm appearance. In time the copper will gain some patina, but this will only make the knife look better out.
