As best I can tell, Benchmade never received a lot of press with it's 755 MPR (stands for "Mini Pocket Rocket"). I suspect that this lack of exposure is mostly due to the weight of the knife and it's chunky/blocky design.

Sometimes appearances really are deceiving. In-hand...or at least in my hand, the 755 MPR doesn't feel chunky or blocky; it feels SOLID. It locks into my hand so naturally that it feels more "attached" than any folding knife I've ever used. On one hand, I appreciate thin folding knives because they take up relatively little real estate in the pocket. On the other hand, they usually feel like my hand can't quite close on them. Not so with the MPR.

The blade design on the MPR is...at least for a shorter knife, "perfect" for me. It's stout...and yet slices remarkably well. And the M390 steel is referred to as a "super steel" with very good reason. It freaking performs exceptionally well. Possibly better than anything I've encountered. I've seen reviews where they knock the spine jimping of the MPR, saying that "It's too rounded and offers no traction". My first MPR (a satin finished blade) exhibits some of that...but not to the extent that the critics exhorted. My black bladed version's jimping works well. Maybe Benchmade sharpened the jimping a little from the earlier runs to this one? Don't know. I suppose that I could ask them; they've generally been good about responding to my inquiries.

The G10 scales that overlay the titanium skeleton feature the perfect amount of texturing. They feel supremely wonderful in my hand. The titanium lock design is super intelligent and works PERFECTLY.

I do have a single "knock" on the MPR. It's not the weight of the knife. As an EDC blade, it doesn't bother me at all. Nope. The sole criticism that I have have is for the pocket clip. Yeah...it "works". I just don't like it. It feels too..."stick-like".

Ever since I bought my satin-finished MPR, I've wanted a black-bladed version. When I finally got the one shown in this photo "in hand", I knew why; it just looks freaking awesome. And the quality of this knife is absolutely second to none.
