Benchmade has an interesting approach to folding knives that have a Titanium frame-lock; Benchmade calls this their Mono-lock. One of the inherent challenges to the Titanium frame-lock design is that as the knife is used, the lock gets more worn. Since Titanium is "softer" than the steel of the blade tang, it procedes to wear until the lock advances further "in" along the blade's tang. As it reaches it's farthest "worn in" point, the knives will often develop "lock rock". Benchmade has an interesting way of stopping that extreme "wear in"; they sculpt the Titanium lock so that it has ridged "stop" that keeps the lock from progressing all the way in. The Subrosa design comes with this system. I bought one of the very first Subrosa's shortly after they were released (with a satin finished blade). I've been wanting to add a black-coated version to my collection for quite some time. Well...I've done it. I have to say that the black version looks even better than the satin version (which looks GREAT).
