Noble fir
This tree grows at a slow to medium rate, with height increases of anywhere from less than 12" to 24" per year.
Gonna go with Charles guess of hundreds!
I'll go with your guess!!
It is strictly a guess on my part but I would say at least hundreds of years!
Actually Charles I never thought to hard on that one, I'll have to get back to you on that. If I post something now I'll probably be putting my foot in my mouth, Most of these trees were harvested from the 20's to the 50's but somehow this one was left.
Neat John! Any estimates to how old the tree is?

The bench is about four feet wide so that gives you an idea how big this tree is. Its about eight feet in diameter and about 60' to 70' feet to the first branch. Estimated height is 135' to 165'. Its one of the last original growth Douglas Fir trees in Pollock Pines and I am proud to have it in my front yard.
sit a spell, have some sun tea and relax!
