Thanks for the backstory on that beautiful Boot Knife, Doug!
That must have been quite a collection! I'm glad to hear that you were able to help the lady turn her husband's collection into much needed cash. It sounds like everyone came out of the deal feeling like a winner. I'm sure she appreciated your help.
Cheers, mate!
Thanks for the comments on the Buck. I can't see anything holding the handles on so I'd assume that they are glued on. A lot of time went into getting that knife. A widow down in California had a large Buck collection she was trying to sell, in fact I became aware of it when she asked on one of the forum sites here if selling a collection was allowed. It was obvious that she had no experience with selling knives so I volunteered to help her. After 3 weeks of researching her collection and posting a few pics that she provided of some of the individual knives, I managed to work out what I thought was a fair price for the entire collection between her and a member of the Buck Collectors Club. I made her aware of the fact that she would get more by parting the collection out but she wanted to sell it intact. I refused any compensation from her, however for my part in setting up the sale, the buyer agreed to sell me the boot knife at an agreed upon price. It was a rewarding transaction for all parties involved. She received the money needed to save her mothers house from the bank, The buyer of the collection got some premium knives, 5 of them from the El Cajon Custom Shop, and I was able to buy the Boot Knife.
Big Beautiful Badass Buck Boot Blade!
By what method are the Scales attached to the tang? Are there hidden/blind pins? Or are they just glued on?
