Decided I wanted to get another Italian Mozzetta, so sent Carlo Cavadon a mock-up of what I had in mind and asked if he could build one for me. I wanted one with some figured olive wood, Damasteel blade, and some lightly engraved, brushed stainless steel bolsters. Carlo came through in spades! Couldn’t be happier with how the knife turned out.

Thanks J.J.  The mozzetta is a knife that has the tip of the blade without a point, as if it were severed. The aim was to obtain a knife suitable only for cutting use, which could be carried more freely than a pointed knife, during a period in Italy in which the laws on the subject had become increasingly restrictive. This stemmed from the Giolitti Law of 1908, which allowed knives with blades up to 10 cm in length to be carried freely only on condition that this was without a point.  I am just drawn to the overall style of the knife.  Have two others and they get lots of carry time!!

Absolutely beautiful, Dennis.

I'm particularly drawn to the higonokami blade style.
