Michael, I did not know Joe Houser had moved on. Thank you for reminding me of his name. I always liked him. Jan, I'm thinking kitchen knife too but I wouldn't want to say for sure. I never did follow their kitchen knives very much.

Your correct if you hit view full size it is fine.  This does indeed look like it may have been one of the kitchen knife line.  John, best pic size for our site is 640 X 480

Oh and John, can you get a better picture?  The one posted here is somewhat distorted and if you could take a pic with a ruler lying next to it so you can see the blade length and overall length it would help a lot.  Thanks!

Hi John - I can''t remember his name because it has been a few years since I have emailed him but if you send an email to pfstore@buckknives.com they should be able to get you in touch with the right guy.  Just explain that you are trying to identify the knife in your picture and learn about its history.  Or you could call them at 800-326-2825 and ask the operator who you should send an email to.  Like I said, in my experience they have been very helpful and I would hope that hasn't changed.  Best of luck and please let us know what you find out.  Now I need to know what you have there.

I don't believe the tang has been grounded off it looks to never had one I've had it since the 80's how do I get in touch with an Historian

Well that's a new one on me.  It looks very much like an Akonua but the guard isn't right.  I can't tell if maybe it started out as an Akonua and maybe someone ground the finger guard down for some reason.  The tang stamp is what you would see on a custom or a limited edition.  My best advice would be to send the picture to Buck's historian.  They are very good about answering emails.  Please do let us know what they say.  Now I am intrigued.
