see the pic below..now that i look at it.. whatever the brown item is n the pic behind the knife i cant tell..... the way the 25 is setup is how the original stamp looked..the 25 was DEEPLY STAMPED into the tang..and WIDE. but also very close..almost touching.. their was maybe a pinhead worth of space.i also have said it on here somewhere else.i forget which pattern they came on...but case only made one small pattern a 25center- BUT i do know they only came in GREENBONE.

if you had a picture of the entire knife that is shown that would be great...also i have promised the pics of the real stamp for months now...im lazy..forgive me.

I am looking at the tang stamp and peter's comment. I don't have great sight but the picture is not a good enough close up for me to agree that Paul's knife has been tampered with. I have posted a close up of mine here for comparison.

These 25cent knives were made ca. 1939 and they are rare!

Page 33 in Jim Sargents book shows the tang stamping, it does look different on the knife.

The closed length is 2 5/8 boy now you have me doing some more home work. I have a 25 cent guru that owns a few in Texas, I will send him a pic for his input.

paul.i have to apologize.i saw this,got excited, and then came back to it becuase like i said i only seen 2 real 25cent knives knives in my life{that were real,100s of fakes}. if you like i have lots of info for you but first i want to start by simply telling you that when case stamped their 25cents mark it was all one line just like they did everything else... as you can see the 25cent mark here is not only spaced apart...which i assure you the atcual 25cent stamp is not..its bold and takes up the enitre space under the curve of the CASE mark. take a very close look and you can already tell ... look at the 2 and the 5...you may need a GLASS ..i dont..yet..my eyes are ok but i would love one closeup for teaching purposes...please of the tang if you dont mind...BUT AS I WAS SAYING... see how the 2 ever so slighlty dips below the 5... also i can tell the tang has been rubbed at least some... let me gather more info before i continue. and please dont be discouraged... im guessing that about 10% or more of my collection even with me looking all the time and this and that is worked or faked.sorry paul to be the bummer guy..but if you dont learn now and you find another ....if you came on here and posted it i wouldnt be able to handle not telling you so you can protect youself.i hope thats all you know this is.i am no expert.i know what i know.i have tools at my disposal and lots and lots of paper information!

Peter it is one of my favorite tang stamps also. I came across it some years back, wish it was easy to find more.
