The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
This is a super cool and very rare knife. It was built in 1987 by Case for owner of Smoky Mountain Knife Works Kevin Pipes. Its was supposed to be the ideal Whittler hints the pattern #54W but it was never produced and this prototype was the only one ever built. It is built on the normal 54 trapper frame but with a stockman style sheepfoot blade. The front tang is stamped with 3 "floating dots" and 54W. The rear tang is stamped PROTO. It remained in Kevin Pipes' personal collection until 2005 when he sold it. It is in new condition and came with the original box and a COA from Kevin Pipes that tells about the knife. The is a true gem and I'm proud to have it in my collection.
