The full size scouts are more practical.  The can opener and cap lifters on the Jr. are too small.

This was my review at Amazon:

Its a Case knife with genuine stag scales. At 3 3/8 inches it is a small knife. The can opener and and cap lifter blades are almost too small to be practical. This is quite frankly a problem with all of the Scout Junior knives.

The knives are well made and are nice size for pocket carrying. The fit & finish is what you expect from knives made by Case.

The bottom line is the knife is made for the collector's market. As such, it is made well enough to use but really not to be used as using the knife will decrease its value.

As the knife is made with quality Sambar Stag and is made in  relatively small numbers, its is speculated that the value will go up over time BUT only if it is not used and you keep the paperwork and box! If you're looking for a good usable scout knife there are plenty of excellent quality ones out there at a much lower price. Many of these other knives are also more functional. Consider the Victorinox Swiss Army Pioneer Pocket Knife, Rough Rider Knives 533 Camp Knife with Amber Jigged Bone Handles or Cattlemans Cutlery 0093ZW Sagebrush Trail Scout Pocket Knife with Z...

This one is is strictly for the collectors market. I ding it one star because, despite its collectability, it lacks the function of a true scout knife.

If you're looking for a good user, search  ebay for  an older ulster or Camillus scout knife if you are looking for a good user.  The Ulsters go for around $10-$25  in good shape.  The Camillus for $15-$40.  You can pretty much double or triple  those estimates for one in excellent to Mint.

The current Chinese made BSA knives are also well made knives and go for around $25
