These things were capable of withstanding an enormous amount of abuse.

I can find no credible evidence of these ever being manuf under any defense contract .. HOWEVER .. these were purchased en mass by Quatermaster's & just included on pallets as prybars .. they were NOT inventoried items .. but,   were apparently readily available to the troops !!!!
