I annealed by getting it into my forge up to a red (orange) glowing heat. Then I leave it to cool down in the forge.

Heat treatment I did the same way I do any carbon steel blade. (Apart from 52100).

Orange heat, quench in vegetable oil,

2x a 1 hour temper in the oven at around 210 degrees celcius. For bigger blades I do 3 temper cycles.

I have to say though that I think it wasn't completely annealed because I ruined a drill bit getting the lanyard hole done. I'm going to invest in some vermicullite (spelling?) to get it to cool down more slowly in the future.

Alex .. how did you anneal & re-temper .. @ what temp for how long .. air dry / salt quench ???

I have 2 ANZA knives that I'm very pleased with & would like to try something like this myself.
