There's a lot of speculation within the Cold Steel Community that it's simply a re-worked Tanto, since its sheath and the sheath for the CS Tanto series are almost identical. But it is a completely different beast.

The jimping on the spine is on each side of the blade, not carried over across the spine. This makes for a secure grip when angling the blade. The Bone Breaker in the middle of the spine is acute, but not edge sharp, so it work great at cracking bones with a minimum of bone fragments, and in a pinch works good as a chopper. The thickness of the blade continues and flares out slightly between the Bone Breaker and the tip, which allows for batoning.... If I were forced to take only one knife with me out in the woods, this would be that knife.
