Yeah...I'm a HUGE knife guy. Steel is my thing. And not just on knives. I'm a big gun guy. I also like AXES, Hatchets and tomahawks. Well...after enjoying some dialogue with one of my friends here on iKnifeCollector (Andy), I decided to post a few axe photos. Shown here is my McGowan Firestone Belt Axe. Light, strong...and freaking sharp, this handy chopper does some things that knives simply can't or won't. So...am I that guy out in the woods with the axe, the big fixed blade knife, a couple of folding blades, a multi-tool and a firearm or two? Yup. That's me. I look a bit like a clothed griz with a bunch of pointy pieces of steel sticking out. I probably smell a little better than a real bear, though. Just a little.

From an engineering standpoint, the rectangular haft is superior. And plywood may also be superior to most natural handles, if made of the right wood. Very interesting, indeed!
