Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I am currently field testing the CE-400 bushcraft "Defiant" made by Colonial Knife Corp.
It has a full tang 154CM saber ground blade that measures approximately 5 3/4" cutting edge and over all 11 1/8" by 1 1/2 wide with a 3/16 spine, weighing in at 6 oz. It's rockwell hardness is 59 C. It comes with a nice Kydex sheath that has a one button quick release clip that you can wear horizontally or vertically.
The knife is kind of a monster for it's size. It has clean no nonsense lines that are functional and simplistic which only adds to its intrinsic beauty. I find it's lack of a perforated thumb grip refreshing as it is unnecessary with the thick spine. The choil is integrated into the handle for a nice "choke" grip. It has a nice balance and the blade is nice and sharp. The knife overall has a nice symmetry. It is well made with no gaps between blade and handle, smooth. The handle is smooth G-10 and is large and meaty for a good hold and even has a lanyard hole.
I like the sheath it too is well made clean and sturdy, without being excessively thick like so many Kydex sheaths are. I really like the clip. It is strong, but still adds a lot of flexibility to the carry. The quick release and the ability to wear it horizontally are big selling points to me personally as a horizontal front carry has been my preference for many years now.
I like the long top edge, almost four inches, it adds a lot of distinction to the knives overall profile. It gives the knife a little more flavor than the plethora of other bushcraft knives out there. I do wish it was sharpened though. That’s a personal preference of mine and would interfere with batoning and such.
That’s my introduction and general review. The results of my field test will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. I forsee no problems with the knife and have great expectations. The testing will tell.

Well it seems to be well received and I agree with the first impression

I agree with you Don.  It is a very good knife.  I, like you however, wish mine was sharper from the factory.  I hope to find out the angle on the factory grind.  I plan on using my KME sharpener on it.

I must add though that after I chopped down a 2 1/2 inch thick tree with it and chopping the tree in two again further up the tree and chopping off branches, it was still sharp enough to slice paper.

Nice write-up and summation of the Defiant's attributes and general characteristics. I'll look forward to your field test results and conclusions.
