Modern Era Taylor made Deluxe Scout knife. I hate that the BSA opted to make this knife without a bail. It is suppose to be carried in a sheath. The cool thing about it is the end mounted Phillips Screwdriver. I was hesitant about buying this Chinese made BSA knife. Bottom line: it has a nice bone handle and is very well made. The BSA assured Quality Control was maintained.

I actually have no problem with the quality of Chinese knives -- for the most part. In fact, quite the opposite. I own several knives that are made in China and the fit, finish, and overall quality of the knives are first rate. It is usually the quality of the materials that is lacking. I just feel that any organization that has "America" in its name should utilize the resources that are in abundance in the Country they purport to represent. The NRA is guilty of the same thing, as are many other groups. It's just a personal tick with me, I 'spose. Kind of like having the American flag made in some other Country. *scratches head*

I am heartened to hear that the Scouts are moving back in that direction. Bear & Sons was one Cutler that came to mind when I was wondering why these knives were being outsourced. They would be an excellent choice to make these knives right here in America.

Ron,  Not all current Scout knives are made in China.  Bear and Son has a contract for them as well.  And rumor has it once the existing China stock is used up,  Production will resume through a USA manufacturer, presumably Bear but possible Ontario. It may even still be Taylor but the production is suppose to take place in the USA.

A nice mirror finish on all the blades. That's a nice touch. Sad, though, that the Scouts outsource the contract to another Country nowadays.
