Matched desert ironwood scales .. these are going to look SWEET !!
This is the end / edge intended to butt up against the bolster. It was milled to a 78 deg angle (instead of the 90 from the supplier) to facilitate the wood pattern flowing within the frame lines .. upon final assembly.

Instead of the standard 90 deg angle the slabs had been factory cut to .. I need a 78 deg angle .. to get the grain to lay the way I wish.
The dark growth ring evident on the left 1/3 of this pic curves such that I can fit it parallel w/ the backspine .. if I do this. That's the idea anyway.
It's more evident in the side view .. when I get that far .. I'll post a pic.
