Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Shown here is a new addition to my collection; the Apache Fire from JW Smith & Sons Custom Knives.

The "beauty" of this custom knife isn't found in flash and sizzle; it's in the core construction and simplicity of the design. This is a knife whose real purpose is more work-driven than artistic (which isn't to say that the two things can't coexist within a single knife; they can).

Look at the grind lines on the blade...and shaping of the micarta-scaled handle. Everything is high and tight...though this is a handmade knife and shows evidence of the maker's touch. Things that other people may consider "imperfections" give this knife evidence of it's handmade creation. JW did an amazing job on this Apache Fire knife.

One of my favorite features of this awesome blade is that it is made of 1/4" thick D2 steel. Not everyone is a fan of D2...but I certainly am. The idea of 1/4" D2 really rings my bell! One of the more unique stylistic features of the knife (and Jerry's work in general) is the tapered tang. While I don't show this in the photo, it is a very subtle-but-cool element. Additionally, this knife came SCARY SHARP! Jerry sent me one of the sharpest knives that I have ever held.

And last, but certainly not least, the sheath is absolutely perfect. Extremely well made, this sheath features the most intelligently designed snap I've ever seen.

Jerry was super easy to deal with and made this entire transaction a wonderful experience. If you are looking for an affordable, high-quality, handmade fixed blade knife, I definitely recommend him!

It sure looks like it would fit my hand.

Difficult to see anything I'd call an "imperfectionn". Like my Randalls, they are hade by loving hands with great skill. There is divinity in simplicity.
