The big fighter is getting a little brother in the same steel 52100. This one is mostly stock removal. (I have a tennis arm so I have to keep forging to a miinimum) Only thing that'll be forged is the curve of the tang later on. (side 2)

I have to admit, this stuff was laughing at my regular ceramic grinding belts. I recently got some Cubitron II belts to try out however and those just FLY through steel.

As for your friends...maybe they should get a DMT sharpening set sometime. Never had a steel type (including ZDP189 and Cowry-X at Rockwell 65) that was a problem with diamond plates.

You picked some tuff stuff, to grind there. I have a couple of friends that have some custom deer hunting fixed blades made of 52100. They really like the way it performs, only trouble is, neither one can sharpen their own knife. So guess who has the job, that's right, me. It's okay steel, I just much rather 1095 and 5160, forged.
