Tom, I have considered those things you mentioned. I am 74 years old now and want to pass along my knowledge in the right way. I don't want to give it up to the wrong people....read (Chinese slave labor) I did a demonstration a few years ago for a blacksmith group. Haven't been back to see if it soaked in. I would suggest practicing on aluminum or scrap metal the thickness of the blade you want to file. I have been teaching a young fellow the past 2 years and he is showing lots of promise. The first knife he took apart I nicknamed him HAMMER!
Tom.
Thomas,
I just bought Dwayne Dushane's fileworking video hoping to learn enough to give fileworking a try on my own knives. Well I'm impressed with Dwayne's work and I'm equally impressed with yours! I suggest that you do your own video or write a book for us folks who want to learn!
Tom, Thanks for your comment. I try to do something on every area of the knife. Some of the makers in Sheffield did this and were my inspiration. I have seen some knives by Stan Shaw with a pattern on the underside of the spring, but not the kicks of the blade, a little touch I add.
Incredible file work Sir!
Jan, I appreciate your comments on my work. It has been my pleasure and blessing to meet so many really nice people over the years since I started customizing knives. I also appreciate your work with IKC ! Thanks Again !
Tom
