The Miwok Indians have a sacret place near Volcano, Ca. "Indian Grinding Stones" Last year a foot bridge was added over a spring, I watched the end of the project as a skilled worker hand hewed the logs with a tool exactly like the curved one.
Will try to get a picture next week of the bridge to post here.
Oh yes, I used to work for the Louisiana Pacific lumber mill in Burney, Ca. The plywood plant.
The logs were floated down river to the plant then up the steel conveyors into the building, sawed to length, placed on automatic spindles then spun as a full length blade eased down to peel the log and Ta Da...the beginnings of plywood.
A job for the young for sure.
They were in my dads basement when he passed. Didn't know that he had them and no idea where they came from.
Can't read the first two letters, I'll have to clean them with Simple Green and a bristle brush.
Those are cool, Mike! Is there a story behind them?
